[edit] Project description
[edit] Site
This particular sector of the city of Bologna has always been excluded from urban development, because of its position, distant from the main radial streets and filled with rail and industrial infrastructures. In the last few years a development project for the Lazzaretto area have been approved by local authorities, and also the former rail area will be converted into a multi-functional residential area. This project is an attempt to provide pedestrial and public transportation connection between these two development areas and the rest of the city, operating on a marginal area. The main issues were the following:
- Provide pedestrian connection between the areas on the north and south sides of the railroad
- Provide stations for the local rail system (SFM, Servizio Ferroviario Municipale, and the predicted Metro)
- Separate large and fast streets from local traffic.
